The end of the year is fast approaching, it can be a busy and stressful for many people. Perhaps you have certain goals or projects that were supposed to be completed this year? And even if you’re not trying to think about Christmas yet, everywhere you look there are reminders! If you are anxious because time is flying and you haven’t got your ass in gear yet (for Christmas or generally in life), fear not. Here’s a little list of thoughts/ideas of how to use November wisely and help me stay positive at this crazy time of year.
1. CHRISTMAS SPENDING – You still have 5 WHOLE WEEKS (and some) until Christmas. Which means that you might be getting paid before Christmas? (Yay!) Either way you still have time to plan your festive budget. Do it and STICK to it. Live within your means over the holidays, and you can start the new year without added financial worries. I know it can be easier said than done, but if it means you have to get creative and MAKE some presents this year then so be it. I always prefer thoughtful gifts anyway. Who knows you might even find you have some hidden creative flair.
2. GOALS – The year hasn’t ended yet! Don’t give up on your goals for 2016. Why not use the time left as motivation to try even harder in the last few weeks. It might be a fitness goal, a work related goal or maybe something else. I tend to work better under pressure, so I’m using the end of the year as a deadline to help me push forward with my blog related goals. Even if for some reason we don’t meet them all by the end of the year, we’ll be a lot closer to achieving them than if we gave up now.
3. PLANNING – For many people, December is a particularly busy month. My family has birthdays as well as Christmas and New Year’s Eve get through. This means a lot of gatherings, visitors and parties. Sometimes it can be overwhelming. Finding something to wear, making sure you can accommodate everyone, deciding what to cook and how to travel. Minimise stress as much as possible by planning NOW. Get all your key dates in a diary or calendar (I use my icalendar) and even write in the little details like what you will wear or cook, what you need to buy, when you will buy it or how you’ll be travelling etc… These are the small things that can be surprisingly stressful if left until the last minute.
I’d love to hear what you think about this post and what things you do to help beat the festive stress. Do leave a comment 🙂
